Most people in the Middle Ages liked to drink, but the water was often unclean. The poor drank ale, mead, or cider. The rich were able to drink any kind of wine. The wealthy ate little amounts of fruit. Fruit was usually served in pies or was preserved in honey. Fruit was traditionally eaten by the poor. There were many different fruits available during the Medieval era like, apples, oranges, lemons, apricots, quince, peaches, cherries, strawberries, raspberries, red currants, melons, and pomegranates. Next are vegetables. The word vegetable was rarely used the Middle Ages, but the term herb covered all green plants, roots, and herbs. There were may different kinds of vegetables you could get in the Middle Ages like, onions, parsnips, fennel, garlic, parsley, shallot, watercress, endive, lettuce, beetroot, cabbage, leeks, carrots, artichokes, long-beans, broad-beans, peas, lentils, and asparagus.
